We are Anna-Maria and Olivia. What we share is a love of being hosts. At Landhaus Maltzien we want to show you Rügen the way we have come to love it. We live here ourselves, welcome you in person whenever we can and show you around the apartment and the garden.

Anna-Maria, globetrotter & cat mum
For years she travelled the world as a tourism expert, most recently spending five years in Tunisia. Today she works for the Rügen tourism association and keeps discovering the island anew. Her season: summer.
Olivia, creative mind & foodie
She has lived in Vorpommern-Rügen for six years, works as a freelance event manager and at Onda in Putbus. She knows where to find really good food on the island and loves turning ideas into reality, in the house as much as in the garden. Her season: autumn.
Raised to be hosts
We grew up in our father’s restaurant; he came from the island of Ischia. Welcoming guests has always been part of our lives, and we have known that island feeling since childhood. Little by little, we want to bring our Italian, Swedish and German roots into the Landhaus.
An old farmworkers’ cottage on Zudar
The Landhaus was once a cottage belonging to the Maltzien estate, home to the families of its farmworkers. The fields around the house are still there, and the thatched roof still tells of those times.
What we love about the Zudar peninsula is how unspoilt it is: there is hardly any tourism, and much of the village is still the way it always was. You see this best at the harvest festival in Maltzien, when the whole peninsula celebrates together.
How to get here
By car via the Rügendamm causeway at Stralsund. In summer you can also take the small car ferry from Stahlbrode to Glewitz, right on Zudar.
Once you are here, we are happy to share our favourite walks: to the Palmer Ort headland, the Schoritzer Wiek bay or down to the beach.
